Mayor Rob Ford had an ?incident? with a TTC streetcar driver Wednesday.
The TTC was tight-lipped about the run-in Thursday other than to say it was an ?incident?.
TTC spokesman Brad Ross refused to reveal what streetcar route the ?incident? occurred along but did say the employee was ?counseled? not to leave the driver?s seat in the future.
?As far as we?re concerned the matter is closed,? Ross told the Sun Thursday night. ?We?re not going to comment on the incident.?
Ross said the driver was back at work and was not disciplined.
The driver was ?counseled about the rules? about not getting out of the driver?s seat and ?not engaging with motorists regardless of who they are,? Ross said.
The driver agreed and the issue is closed.
Asked why the TTC was being so secretive about the incident, Ross denied he was being secretive.
?The matter is closed. It has been dealt with,? he said. ?It is no different than if the incident occurred with a private citizen.?
Ross stressed the fact the mayor was involved had nothing to do with the driver being counseled about the rules.
?We will not be commenting further,? he said.
Wednesday?s incident came the same day TTC chair Karen Stintz surprised everyone, Ford included, by rolling out her OneCity plan to build transit through a new tax on Toronto residents.
The mayor?s office couldn?t confirm any details of the incident when contacted Thursday.
?I have nothing to say,? said George Christopoulos, Ford?s press secretary.
